He’s midway through work on a new film, Franklyn, in London.

“It’s with Ryan Phillippe and Eva Green. I can’t really say too much about the story line, but it’s pretty far-out. . . . It was the most interesting script I read after Control, and one of the only ones that didn’t involve me killing myself, either. Not to say I’ll never play another depressed individual, but not immediately after this.”

thanks Mariana! i just wish there’ll be a new interview of Eva about Franklyn….

    spot: I’m crossing my fingers…

    Mariana: Thank you!!!

Has Sam Riley been killing himself in his movies? Oh, well, I guess Eva’s going to have possession of the suicidal tendencies this time…

  4. Mariana Says:

Monique: Sam Riley’s breakthrough and most acclaimed role so far was in Control (that I recommend to everyone). In this film he plays Ian Curtis, the real-life singer of UK 70s band Joy Division, who hanged himself.

  5. Mariana Says:

Monique: So… pretty much like Eva who only got offered femmes fatales or roles that required nudity after The Dreamers, Sam Riley got offered many roles that had to do with suicide.

i think Sam and Eva did so well on portraying their breakthrough characters that they sort of got “put in a box”. i hope this coincidental “relation” between the two can transform to a great cinematic chemistry 😉

i agree with Mariana on Control…it’s such a great film and awesome performance from Sam Riley…

  7. Monique Says:

Mariana: Interesting…thanks for the info…typecasting…people judge them [Eva and Sam] based on their first acting roles…hopefully, Eva will banish that idea with her later movies…

I really must find Control to get a taste of Sam Riley’s acting…

Monique: You can have a flavour from the trailer of Control in youtube

George: I’ve watched it [Control trailer], and I think Sam was fantastic…I’m sorry, I’m not familiar with Joy Division…I’m not from UK…but I think he was marvelous! I can’t wait to see him with Eva in Franklyn!!!!
