Jordan’s film, Cracks, meanwhile, recalls the contained nature of her father’s 1977 debut The Duellists. It is a tale of “misguided love and obsession” set in an English all-girls boarding school in the 1930s. Eva Green, star of Casino Royale, will play Miss G, a charismatic teacher. “It reminded me a lot of Lord of the Flies,” says Jordan, who co-directed the short Jonathan with her father for the 2005 anthology movie All the Invisible Children. “It was interesting as you always see that kind of story played out among boys. You never see it presented with a group of girls.”

It will be interesting. The first film of Eva with a woman director. Probably, Ridley made some good reference for Eva from her cooperation in KoH. Moreover, Jordan is about the same age with Eva.

  2. spot Says:

i think Eva is really Ridley’s personal favorite and he was very impressed at her performance in KoH as he also recommended Eva to John Galiano for the Dior Midnight poison gig 🙂

  3. spot Says:

Mariana: any news on why she wasn’t at the Tokyo TGC premiere? 🙁

  4. George Says:

spot: where is our Japanese Tango_down?

  5. Tango_down Says:

George : Unfortunately, the japanese one doesn’t have the chance to know Eva, he’s buried himself in mangas

  6. spot Says:

    Tango_down: mangas 🙁

  7. Monique Says:

spot: yes, I think you might be right…how could Eva not be Ridley Scott’s favorite after her brilliant performance as Sibylla? I remember reading somewhere, I think it was in that Telegraph article, that R. Scott said in his commentary for the Director’s Cut of KoH that he was sorry that he had cut most of her scenes…

I was wondering that as well when I heard that Nicole Kidman had been in the Japan premiere, where was Eva?
Oh, and is she going to be presenting at the Oscars like she did last year?

Come on, guys, mangas aren’t so bad…okay, some are just downright weird and lame, but some are okay…although it’s too bad that the Japanese Tango_down is too absorbed in them to tell us why Eva wasn’t in Japan…

  8. Tango_down Says:

Monique : I didn’t say that I don’t like mangas, some represent a whole univers of imagination and creation

  9. Monique Says:

    Tango_down: I know, I’m just kidding…

  10. spot Says:

Monique: i agree a lot are not bad. i’m just not a big fan of the genre…;)

  11. George Says:

Monique: unfortunately we will not see Eva among the presenters at the Oscar’s ceremony this year.

  12. spot Says:

Monique: honestly, she really doesn’t have any reason to be there anyway 😉

  13. Tom Says:

Congrats to Marion! I didn’t see the movie, but maybe I will now.

  14. George Says:

Tom: see the movie and you will confirm that she deserved it. She got almost all the awards she was nominated

  15. Monique Says:

    spot: that’s true…but I missed her…*Monique pouts*

Congratulations, Ms. Cotillard, I was hoping she would win…

  16. Monique Says:

Oh, and thanks for the scans Mariana (the OK and the Night and Day scans)!!! What happened to her crazy artistic flair, the one we usually see in the premieres??? She seems so, I don’t know, Hollywood…without her trademark “up-do” and her beautiful and outrageous dresses…
    But, maybe, that’s just me…

  17. spot Says:

Monique: don’t worry, i don’t think she’s selling out. it’s nice to see her mix her style and tone down from time to time 😉

  18. Lola Says:

    Hey Mariana,
I found these! Scroll to the right to find some new pics of Eva. They have been taken by society/celeb photographer Greg Williams. http://www.gregwilliamsphotography.com/portfolio/index.php?album_id=29

More stunning gorgeousness here http://www.blog.vettri.net/gallery/celeb/eva_green/Ellen-Von-Unwerth-Photoshoot.html I LOVE ELLEN VON UNWERTH’S WORK!! AND here http://www.blog.vettri.net/gallery/celeb/eva_green/index.html although you probably have most of these anyways 😀 😉
And this 32-pic Greg Williams shoot is positively stunning! http://www.blog.vettri.net/gallery/celeb/eva_green/Eva-Green-Greg-Williams-Photoshoot-2006-1.html Yippee!!

  21. Liz Says:

spot: i agree with you. but i understand why monique recats like taht-.. i sort of thought the same. but then read some interviews and she sas she wants to look more serious and not that attention crapping because she was presenting the award and did not want to get the attention of the winner .. i hoope you see what i mean i do not n´know how to express it better=)…

  22. spot Says:

Liz: i completely understand you so don’t worry about it 😉 i actually thought that it was very professional of her to say that. i like how she respect the “moment” of the winner and nominees by not being this “attention grabber” presenter. i think it says a lot about her 🙂

  23. EvaAnne Says:

For anyone who likes a boarding school story with girls, watch “Lost and Delirious” (2001). It’s very good! (A very Eva-type of movie, I think)

imdb: A newcomer to a girl’s boarding school is befriended by her two new roommates, and later discovers they are lovers. When one of the lovers decides she doesn’t dare continue the relationship, the other becomes desperate in her attempts to win her back.

  24. George Says:

Thanks EvaAnne. I read a few reviews in Imdb and it seems indeed interesting (love and possesion between girls). However, as Jordan Scott said, Cracks has also a lot in common with “Lord of the flies” (which in my opinion moves in a diffrenet wavelength). The combination of two will be very interesting (…and challenging for Eva).

  25. Lola Says:

Bond 22 update, brief mention of Eva http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/showbiz/showbiznews.html?in_article_id=524016&in_page_id=1773

  26. George Says:

Thnx Lola (I felt nostalgic about Vesper and 007…)

  27. Liz Says:

thank you, lola… george: i couldnt say it better…
so i am very curious about the secret behind vesper’s character!!

  28. Monique Says:

spot and Liz: that’s a relief…it’s nice of her to think of the winners first, before herself…

EvaAnne: Interesting movie…I’m watching it as of now in Youtube…not bad…it does seem like Eva, but unfortunately, I can’t see where she would fit: the students are too young and the teachers are too old…ah, well…

George, Lola and Liz: I know, I’m feeling nostalgic as well, and I can’t wait to find out who Vesper’s boyfriend was supposed to be, maybe he’s like, really creepy or something…I’m watching the film to see the pics of her they were talking about…

  29. Liz Says:

    Monique: i do the same!
i do hope they have photos of her in the movie but i am not sure… barbara broccoli’s answer at the “quantum of solace”-press conference wasn’t that clear!
but i think i will like the movie anyway because she must be obviously on his mind since the movie starts an hour or something after casino royale ends. so we will all ahve her on our minds no matter if we see her on screen or not;).. i suggest we always do, don’t we??!

  30. Monique Says:

Liz: I know it’s kinda mean of me, but I hope the new Bond girls don’t do as well as Eva did, but then even if they do a good job, it won’t be the same because Eva was the one who reinvented the whole Bond girl arena…ha! so he never gets over her and she’s never out of his mind!!!

  31. Liz Says:

Monique: i like your idea;)…well, not really mean. but cynical;)
i think it is absolutely understandable that we think like taht eva’s vesper lynd was, is and will be the one and only who has entered his heart ..following actresses playing the bond girl can me good but they won’t have the same meaning and impact on bond’s life… so vesper and his love to her is unique!!
in addition, i haven’t yet understadn everything in casino royale what concers vesper and the pressure on her to cooperate, so taht will be the thing i will focus on when watching quantum of solace;)
well. i am getting into details now.. but i love to get a bit philosophical at times.. i am sorry=);)
