‘Casino Royale’ star Eva Green begins work on her new film ‘Cracks’ in Dublin today.

Along with Green, the film will also star ‘Atonement’s Juno Temple and ’28 Weeks Later’ actress Imogen Poots.

Set in a boarding school in 1930s England, the film tells the story of a girl’s unhealthy bond with her teacher which is threatened by the arrival of a new student.

The film is an Irish-UK co-production, with the Irish company Element Pictures among the companies involved.

Speaking about the film Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures said: “We are particularly pleased that Jordan [Scott, director] has cast two 13-year-old Dublin girls, with no previous drama experience, Adele McCann and Zoe Carroll, for two key roles.”

Scott is the daughter of legendary director Ridley Scott and is making her feature directing debut with ‘Cracks’.

Her father’s company, Scott Free, is also among the producers of the film.

‘Cracks’ will be shot in Ireland over the next seven weeks.

  1. Tom Says:

Is Eva “the teacher”? What type of “unhealthy bond” do they share? The idea sounds weird, and almost trite, like it’s been done dozens of times before. New actors new location. 🙁

  2. Javi Says:

Also the most talented spanish actress María Valverde has joined the project. This would be great!!

  3. spot Says:

  5. George Says:

I smell a very challenging role for Eva! It sounds like ” Dead poets’ society” with girls (…captain my captain)

  6. Monique Says:

Interesting…but, an “unhealthy bond”? I have to agree with Tom that it seems like it’s been done before…wasn’t that the very description people used for the relationship between Isabelle and Theo?
But then again, I trust Eva’s judgment on her roles…
I’m sooo jealous of the girls they cast!!!! WAAAAHHH, me toooo!!! They get to act, AND with Eva!!! while I’m stuck here with Chem and Biology!!!! *Monique sobs*

  7. May Says:

I so wanna be in Ireland right now! I can feel with you Monique..

I have to agree with George, it seems to be like Dead poets’ society, just without this poems stuff but something different.. Does anyone know the genre? OMG I’m so excited.. I just can’t wait to hear more!

For the ones who are interested in Cracks you can find a very detailed description on the following page: http://thefilmcatalogue.com/catalog/FilmDetail.php?id=5774
To me it seems that this description almost covers the complete movie, so be aware of spoilers.

I can’t wait…WAAAAAHHH!!! I’m so impatient!!! I wanna watch it now!!!! (Sorry, just trying to vent my frustration…)

  10. George Says:

Thanks HAS. Very interesting (I hope it isn’t fake…). If true, it is a really interesting, challenging and cerebral role for Eva (the roles she likes). I hope Jordan Scott will carry it out succesfully with the requested sensibility.

PS: girls’ diving team in the 30’s? It sounds a bit strange…but interesting!

  11. Liz Says:

    Thank you, HAS!!!
the plot seems quite interesting… something absolutely forbidden=)=)
MOnique: I share your impatience!! I wanna watch it right now.. cannot wait any longer!!!
    time passes by so slowly…
*Liz suffering from desire to Eva-movies*

  12. George Says:

    Take a look at this:
I think it seems like the novel that the film is based on but in different era and place (and sport…).

  13. Liz Says:

George: great research!! This must be the base of “Cracks” the movie.
Every line of reviews, plots and so on makes me more curious about the movie.
I think I have to get the book… would be a great idea for my English course in school=)

  14. Monique Says:

Hey HAS, thanks!!! so many spoilers!!!
It’s a challenging film, but I know Eva can pull it off…
