Today I’ve scanned an old issue of Elle Belgium (okay, not that old, it’s from September 2007 so it’s only 1 year old) for our viewing pleasure. The photo used inside the magazine was used in Elle France (thanks Kazou) and Elle Russia (thanks Mirik) last year was well. But the cover is brand new and I must say that I love it to bits!!! 🙂
Unfortunately, this is the Dutch speaking version of Elle Belgium. And I don’t speak Dutch. So, do we have any candidates for a translation? 😉

Oh, and, by the way, the BAFTAs 2008 coloured photo had already appeared in Night and Day last February (thanks Lorna).

I love the cover, she could play a dark character with that appearance in a movie, a bad witch considering she’s already play the good one.
I heard that to read dutch you have to reverse the order of the letters and then put the text in front of a mirror, it will appears in french…

Tango_down: Wow, I’ve never heard that….I must try it sometimes….
Okay, I’ll give a translation. I’ll just do a little bit now, since I have about absolutely NO time (I’m getting my BA today, yippie!!), but I’ll do the rest later.

A black blonde.
She is the Bond-girl with a dark soul, black hair and the blonde roots. She is the new muse of Dior-guy John Galliano. She is the lead-actress in the Mighnight Poison clip. And this month she is covergirl and rockchick (p.178) for Elle. Eva Green.
ID-KIT
Born 5th July 1980 in Paris.
Has a non-identical twin sister
Her mother is Marlene Jobert, a French-Algerian actress
Worked first in theatre, was spotted there by Bernardo Bertolucci, who cast her – after a few months of intense English classes – for The Dreamers (1993). After that, her career took up, with eye-catchers like Kingdom of Heaven (2005) and Casino Royale (2006)

ps: I’m aware it says The Dreamers was released in 1993, but it says so in the article (there are a couple of factual errors in it…)

Thanks for all the best wishes, guys!
Here is more of the translation:
————————————————–They’re rare, but they exist: blondes who’d rather forget their blondeness. Actress Eva Green is one of them. Once her haircolour varied between being blonde and chestnut, but she herself gave nature a hand.
“As a blonde I felt faded, anonymous and inconspicuous. I was incredibly shy in that time. At school I was a true wall flower”.
Fifteen years of age, she went into crisis: “I dyed my hair a blue-ish black, and it stayed that way”. Her eyes look pensive, under the two horizontal stripes comprising her eyebrows. Her skin is as pale as Snow White’s, and the proportions of her body are just right. That she could only become ‘someone’ by embracing her darker side, tells us a lot about who she is. At Dior they took notice of this, too, and decided to ask, after Sharon Stone, Charlize Theron and Monica Bellucci, 26-year old Green as their muze, more precisely, to be the face of the perfume ‘Midnight Poison’.
Rumour has it that John himself lost his heart to Green, but these are just rumours. Green: “Ridley Scott and his wife, a good friend of Galliano’s, mentioned my name. That’s two years ago now, I was filming ‘Kingdom of Heaven’. You can’t imagine how nervous I was when I first met him. I expected this macho matador, but he turned out to be extremely modest, amiable, and charming in a British way.”
Together, they paid a visit to Wong Kar Wai, director of ‘In the Mood for Love’ and Blueberry Nights’. He accepted their offer to make the commercial for the perfume.

EvaAnne: Congrats on your BA!!!!
Hey you guys remember that Algerian Love knot? I found a story about its origin (well not the Algerian love knot specifically, but the love knot itself) maybe you guys know this (you probably do), but I found it interesting and rather sweet…
Apparently, the love knots started with fishermen tying knots on their lines symbolizing the loved ones they left behind when they went off to sea…(I can just see the fisherman in his boat tying the knot and thinking about his wife waiting for him back home…sigh…I’m such a hopeless romantic)
Some people think they go farther back than that…that the Celts made three-sided knots to symbolize the three pagan goddesses…while others think that the three sides represent the Holy Trinity…
Anyway

EvaAnne : Thanks to you, now I know what is a BA. Tonight, I’ll go to bed less silly 🙂
Monique : You made a great research, that’s very interesting for me, thanks for sharing your informations.
For my part, I’m very romantic, I mean in music lol But I can see in the love knot a great and pure symbol of what binds two people together. You can imagine a lot of things : the drawings of the knot can evoke two people embracing each other, two hearts tangled, or simply a strong link between two ropes which used to be alone originally, that is the definition of a knot but also a figurative picture.
If I had to choose, I would offer a love knot instead of a ring for wedding 🙂
Sorry for the candles !
