Mickey Rourke and Eva Green are attached to star in a remake of the 1986 film Mona Lisa directed by Larry Clark (Kids). Mona Lisa is a remake of the movie that made Bob Hoskins famous back in 1986. Neil Jordan’s Mona Lisa was about an ex-con who becomes the driver for a high-priced call girl played by Cathy Tyson. Michael Caine was also in it as a mob boss.

Yes, confirmed. But under reservations because of EG and MR’s schedules. Until further notice, they’re both attached to the project. Attached is the word. Hayden Christensen was once attached to it as well. Let’s see how it goes.

Wow, interesting… For the history, in 1986, when Mona Lisa was introduced by Neil Jordan, Mickey Rourke was filming 9 1/2 weeks (interesting film, especially for the vegetarians as it introduced new, delightful ways of eating fruits…) and Eva was entering in the primary school.

Nice to hear about that!!! 😉

Such cool news! And again a very different role for Eva.
Is this actually already confirmed?

Just another example of the lack of original ideas for movies. Not that I’m against Eva being in this movie, but anymore all we get are remakes, adaptations of comics and graphic novels or English language copies of Asian films. Very disappointing!

Wow, that would be an interesting role for her.
Mariana, did you say you have some photos from Tascha to post?? I know you haven’t forgotten, and I don’t mean to nag… we are just fanatics! 🙂

It seems like a good role for Eva. I’m not sure whether it’s a challenging one or not. It looks different though. Has anyone seen the original movie?
I think Mickey Rourke is a good actor and I’m curious to see his chemistry with Eva. I’m more cautious about the director though. I saw Bully and while it’s a good film, it didn’t give that much of work to the actors…
EvaAnne: I don’t know for sure but when they say “attached” it means that the mentioned actor is the one that is most likely to take the role (and probably already on negotiations). So I think it’s not confirmed yet. Let’s see what happens. I’m happy because it seems that Eva is starting to get more roles 😀

Tom: This is unfortunately a general trend in movies industry. New scripts, new ideas are more expensive and the budgets are cut off nowadays.

Indeed, this is great news! And what an extraordinary mixture.
Though I’m not totally convinced about remakes and Larry Clark, but Eva and Mickey are both really present on screen, so this could be a really promising one.
Johnny: Thanks for explanation with “attached”… cause I was asking myself the same question… so, let’s see if she’s making it.
I think I’ll try to borrow this one at the weekend if I can get it here…
George: Funny, I immediately thought of
9 1/2 weeks, too, but it’s no wonder, isn’t it?
Unfortunately, it’s years ago I watched this in TV so I can’t remember it too well…
But does this mean that she’s out from this “Christine, War my Love” project? Anyone knows?
May 13th, 2009 at 6:56 am
Tascha: if you can’t remember it, it probably means that it didn’t impressed you much 🙂 It seems it iinfluenced most the little young boys 🙂
I don’t think that the two films are mutually exclusive. Don’t forget that there are actors/actresses that do 3-4 movies per year (…not Eva’s case though)
May 13th, 2009 at 7:13 am
Tascha: I don’t think Eva ever was attached to the “Christine, War my Love” project. That was just a rumour.
May 13th, 2009 at 11:04 am
Slightly random, but I definitely prefer Mickey Rourke to Hayden Christensen…

Darn! I wish Hayden in this with Eva Mariana. We would of had such eye candy!:)
Miss you bb!

George:… only little boys?… and to be honest: the more I think over it the more I can remember Kim Basinger as being part of it… not a really good sign for Mickey…
EvaAnne: I forgot that it was only a rumour… thanks for your help.
So I see that Eva’s usually filming not more than one film a year, so we can be lucky if she’ll add this “Mona Lisa” to her filmographie…
May 13th, 2009 at 8:53 pm
EvaAnne: They’d play different roles. Hayden would be the chauffeur and Rourke the mob boss.
Astrea: This project is still lacking financement and has been for years. When it’ll finally get financed, we’re not sure if Eva or the original cast and the original director will be available. But that’s a role she’d have loved to play. That wasn’t a rumour.

I’ve seen the original film, which I thought was good but very gritty and dark – so I’m not surprised Eva’s shown interest in it. It was critically acclaimed, but I’m not thrilled about the possibility of Hayden being attached – too lightweight imho…not the biggest fan of Larry Clark either. So many of the characters in his films seem to have little or no redeeming features, and I’ve found watching his films to be a very uncomfortable experience. 🙁

Lola: oops… I hope he thinks it’s time for a turn in his career and try something different. However, I am anxious about the chemistry between Rourke and Eva. As I read somewhere, to be a partner of Rourke needs some patience (… or at least needed in the past).
PS. Eva, forget this post and go on. Opportunities are hidden where less expected to be…

George : I love your quotation and I think you’re right on it, as I told I also think that the most expected thing happens at the most unexpected moment 🙂

WEIRD. i’m not too excited of this project.

it’s been so looooong, damn (exams upon exams, don’t you just hate summer classes?) I’m beginning to feel out of the loop…
spot: i agree…I saw Mickey Rourke in a certain movie, I forgot the name, but it had me raising my eyebrows…
I hope it turns out okay, though…
May 24th, 2009 at 9:20 am
oh, yeah, spot…I forgot to ask, (sorry, this is a little late) how are you?
