May 10th, 2012   M. Article, Dark Shadows, Interview Comments Off on Eva Green And Bella Heathcote On Kissing Johnny Depp

It’s official: even as a vampire, Johnny Depp is irresistable! Eva Green and Bella Heathcote speak to Entertainmentwise about kissing the superstar in their latest movie…

Most women around the world are powerless to Johnny Depp’s charms, no matter what he’s wearing. And it seems dressing as a 200 year-old vampire can’t put off the ladies either.

The superstar’s character Barnabas manages to attract the attention of just about every female in Tim Burton’s latest gothic comedy ‘Dark Shadows‘.

Eva Green, who plays a witch so obsessed with Barnabas that she buries him alive, spoke to us on the purple carpet at the European ‘Dark Shadows‘ premiere.

The former Bond girl insisted that despite the allure of the Hollywood superstar, on-screen kisses aren’t as glamorous as they appear:

“Every actor knows… It’s a job. It’s just a job.”

Pressed further about what it was like, she flashed a cheeky grin, admitting: “OK, it wasn’t too bad!”

The ‘Casino Royale‘ actress spoke about her character Angelique Bouchard, who is so desperately in love with Barnabas Collins (Depp) that she casts a spell on him, turning him into a vampire.

She explained: “It was such a meaty role, very complex, she has such an amazing journey… she starts from being so in control, and then little by little Barnabas keeps resisting her, and she cracks up”.

Quizzed about her character’s quest to live forever with Barnabas by her side, The ‘Golden Compass‘ star confessed:

“Oh, I would never be immortal like Angelique”.

Her Australian co-star Bella Heathcote, who started out in Neighbours, was also lucky enough to lock lips with the heart-throb.

She played Victoria Winters and the ghostly Josette DuPres – the two loves of Barnabas’ life. Lucky girl!

She told Entertainmentwise: “It was pretty strange. All on-set kisses are weird, no matter who it is, especially with people standing around coughing and sneezing. It’s very uncomfortable!”

Asked if Johnny’s off screen girfriend Vanessa Paradis was around on set, she said: “I wasn’t fortunate enough to meet Vanessa, I’m a big fan of hers.”

She went on to say: “Tim and all the cast attracted me to the film. It was a lot of fun, I had a blast.”

Asked if she’d ever return to soap operas, she added: “Never say never, but soaps are very hard work. Not that movies like this aren’t!”

We asked Bella why she thinks vampires are so sexy. She gave us her take on the recent vampire craze:

“I think it’s the promise of eternal romance, or eternal love… it’s just an idealistic dream”.

It doesn’t look like the vampire phenomenon will be dying out any time soon!
