Despite not being released until next year, yet another poster has been released for highly anticipated sequel 300: Rise of an Empire.

The latest poster focuses on the Xeres’ forces, the villains of the sequel, and if the creepy mask and the words ‘fear us’ are anything to go by we can safely say these bad guys are going to be menacing.

The teaser image, which has been released for Comic-Con next week, suggests the new movie will follow the visual style set by Zack Snyder’s orginal movie.

Fans of 300 were concerned that by the change of director for the sequel, with Smart People director Noam Murro taking over from Zack Snyder, but this poster will ease some of their worries.

Based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel Xerxes and told in the same visual style as the 2006 blockbuster movie, 300: Rise of an Empire will this time set place on the sea, as Athenian general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

But Themistokles must face the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemisia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

300: Rise of an Empire will also star Game of Thrones actress Lena Headley and Skins actor Jack O’Connell.

The sequel, which was originally meant to hit cinemas next month, is now set to be released on March 7th, 2014.

If anyone here is attending Comic Con this weekend, Eva will be at booth #3920 for autographs/meet and greet on July 20 from 12:30pm until 1:00pm. Best of luck to all who will be in attendance!

I’m surprised by happy she’ll be there. I wish I could go to Comic-Con, but I don’t have the time this year and tickets sell out so fast anyway. Still, it’ll be great to read the press coverage. A lot of actors find Comic-Con panels somewhat overwhelming; hopefully, the 300 fans aren’t too rabid! I’m also looking forward to hearing if White Bird in a Blizzard will make the VFF this year. Bertolucci is a judge, which is a fun coincidence.

@nausicaa I have a gut feeling there will be a White Bird in a Blizzard screening in VFF this year. Fingers crossed!
