Second Exclusive EvaGreenWeb.com Q&A with Eva Green – Part I

Posted by Mariana in May 23,2013 with 10 Comments

Yes, yes, yes!!! It’s true!!! Miss Green kindly granted us a second exclusive Q&A and answered all of our questions!!! We thank her for her kindness and for taking some time to answer us. I’d also like to thank Joy and George, without whom it wouldn’t have been possible. :D Keep checking back for the second part of the Q&A!!! ;)

Q&A session for Eva Green – 09.05.2013

1. In our previous Q &A session you said that “…you are not good at relaxing”. This past year you’ve had a suitcase in hand, filming all around the world (four projects after Dark Shadows). Aren’t you tired? Are you feeling fulfilled after working on each of these projects?
Actually I’m a workaholic so work never tires me as long as the role is « meaty » and something I can really sink my teeth into. I’ve been very lucky with the last four projects. You know because of the financial crisis, there aren’t that many films being done, so I do feel blessed, and yes, fulfilled.

2. What is the percentage of roles that you finally reject among those that are proposed to you? Have you regretted any role rejections or any role acceptances?
I receive many scripts each year, often projects that are being done at the same time as a film that I’m already committed to, and so must refuse it. Or scripts that are poorly written, or the character is a cliché which I really couldn’t give my heart and soul to and consequently refuse as I don’t want to work for the sake of working. Then you have the case of an absolutely exquisite script that for some strange reason never gets produced for lack of funds…. Very frustrating !

3. You are an actress whose work speaks for herself without much PR, magazine covers etc. However, you have a loyal audience in Evagreenweb.com (and not only) that continuously grows. Are you curious to read the comments of the fans in our site from time to time? In general, do you receive many fan mails?
Yes, I do receive fan mail, but I must admit that your website seems to be the most authoritive and (kind, thank you) on my professional life and even my agents use it to get the latest photos, interviews, etc… !

4. How often do you visit France and your family the last years? Paris or Normandy?
My home is in London and I visit my family in Paris or Normandy a couple times a year.

5. Which scenes proved to be the most difficult for you among your last projects?
I would have to say « Sin City » because of the lack of time for prep, but it was a great challenge and I didn’t get fired … Frank and Robert and the crew were the most supportive and lovely people to work with.

6. What attracted you in “White bird in a blizzard” and “The salvation”?
« White Bird in a Blizzard » was a beautifully written script, the character touched me deeply and I was drawn to the complexity of « Eve ». She really was a lovely fragile bird trapped in a cage for me…It was a big challenge to play a mother who ages from mid twenties to mid forties.

« The Salvation » is a Western and that was always one of my fantasies… The character « Madelaine » was kidnapped by the Indians and had her tongue cut out… So no dialogue for me, but a huge challenge, as I needed to convey everything without speech !

7. How did you prepare for the role of Artemisia? Were you familiar with this period of history before the role? (btw Xerxes said for Artemisia during the sea-battle of Salamis that “My men fight like women and my women fight like men” which I guess is not in the script). The premiere is postponed for next March. Are you a bit impatient about the final output?

I’ve never done an action film before and I’ve always dreamed of sword fighting and kicking ass… just being able to vent all that rage is amazing. So this was a great opportunity, plus Artemesia is a fabulous character… It’s very hard today to find strong roles for women and Artemesia is the strongest, toughest, bravest character I’ve ever played.

As for the preparation, I trained four hours a day with a group of stunt men from L.A. for three months before we began shooting. And then I continued training and sword fighting while we were shooting, luckily just on weekends. I’m not the most coordinated person so it was like learning dance steps while swinging two huge swords….It was extremely liberating and empowering !

8. Had you read the comic novel “A dame to kill for” before saying yes to Ava Lord’s role? Ava is the archetype femme fatale and the role seems tailor made for you (although you may don’t like to hear it :-) . Did you have any reservations regarding the “light clothing” as presented in Frank Miller’s novel or you consider it as “just another costume”?
Ah, the nudity… Well, for the character her body is a weapon, a tool she uses to lure men to her, therefore it isn’t gratutious. Also I trusted Robert Rodriguez’s eye for the way he filmed all the scenes and knew that they would be done tastefully, artfully, and he would put me to my best advantage…

’300: Rise Of An Empire’ Bumped From August To March 2014

Posted by Mariana in May 09,2013 with 13 Comments

Thanks to Ashley for the heads-up.

by Rodrigo Perez

Every year studios tend to overestimate their tentpoles and then end up delaying them a year or more. 2013 saw an unprecedented amount of blockbusters originally slated for 2012 get pushed back six months off their originally intended bow: “The Great Gatsby,” “World War Z,” “Man Of Steel,” “Jack The Giant Slayer,” the list goes on (we took a deeper look at these films earlier in the year, see “The Delayed Films Of 2013: Why They Were Pushed Back & Which Ones Will You Be Seeing?”). The latest casualty is Warner Bros. “300: Rise Of An Empire,” and it’s easy to see why.

Three months away from release, buzz on ‘Rise Of An Empire‘ is fairly low and its awareness rating is probably not doing much better. Coupled with the fact that WB isn’t having their best year (a string of bombs and underperformers including “Jack the Giant Slayer,” “Beautiful Creatures,” “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone“), the studio is probably thinking it’s best to hit pause and regroup with a better game plan next year. So THR reports that “300: Rise Of An Empire” is moving from its current August 2nd date to March 7, 2014. While the “300” brand does have leverage, it probably doesn’t help that its leads, Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro and Sullivan Stapleton aren’t exactly blockbuster-known household names.

A domino effect always occurs with a major shuffle like this and so WB is now moving the Tom Cruise sci-fi vehicle “All You Need Is Kill,” from its March 7, 2014 slot to June 6, 2014; directly in the heart of the summer. The tentpole is directed by Doug Liman and co-stars Emily Blunt.

Other recent release dates of note include, for one, the sequel to “21 Jump Street.” Now that “Jurassic Park 4,” has been delayed indefinitely, Sony Pictures has jumped in and slotted “21 Jump Street 2” (“22 Jump Street“?) for the now vacant June, 13, 2014 release date. Sony has also taken their remake of “Popeye” off the schedule. Once dated for September 26, 2014, the film has now been moved to a TBD 2015 release.

CBS Films must be feeling high about their teen comedy, “The To-Do List” starring Aubrey Plaza. It’s moving off its safer August 16 release date onto a bolder July 27 bow. That’s right in the heart of summer tentpole season, but they obviously feel like they have a funny counter programmer on their hands.

Posted by Stef in Apr 13,2013 with 2 Comments

We also have a gorgeous new springy design in the gallery which was created by the very talented Flor. We hope you will all enjoy it as much as we do. Now on to the new photo and information on Eva and her new film…

Here’s a first look photo of Eva Green in the upcoming film “300: Rise of an Empire) by director Noam Murro and starring Eva Green (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Camelot), Rodrigo Santoro (300, The Last Stand, Rio 2) and Sullivan Stapleton.

Film Synopsis: After its victory over Leonidas’ 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes’ army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.

Eva Green is ready for battle — “She has some balls, that’s for sure,” declares Eva Green of her weapon-wielding warrior in 300: Rise of an Empire. (…) “It’s my first action movie,” says the Bafta-winner. “Artemisia’s like an Amazon… She’s a very, very strong woman.”

Who’s ready for battle??? :D

’300′: Zack Snyder’s influence will be felt

Posted by Mariana in Jan 06,2013 with No Comments

300: Rise of an Empire will feature some crossover with the original film.

Actor Rodrigo Santoro – who plays Persian king Xerxes in both films – has said that Zack Snyder’s influence can be felt throughout the upcoming sequel.

Snyder was replaced by Noam Murro as director for the follow-up to the Frank Miller adaptation.

“I think it will match, because the idea is matching – characters and style and all that,” Santoro told Comic Book Resources.

“Especially because they’re calling it like a spinoff, you get bits of the first movie. There’s a place where they meet, the first movie and the second movie, but it’s a different director.

“I didn’t see the movie yet, the final result, but the experience – I mean, Zack was pretty much involved because he wrote it and he’s producing it. His hands are there, but Noam will have his own take on directing it. I think it’s going to be pretty awesome, and the fans are going to be pleased.”

Santoro will share the focus of the film with Sullivan Stapleton and Eva Green’s characters.

The actor will next be seen in The Last Stand with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Johnny Knoxville.

300: Rise of an Empire will debut on August 2, 2013.

Shy Girl… sex bomb Eva Green is really a bundle of nerves

Posted by Mariana in Jun 29,2012 with 2 Comments

If you’re looking for a vamp, a sorceress or a sex bomb for your latest blockbuster, you call Eva Green. But away from the spotlight she’s misunderstood, finds Richard Godwin

When I arrive to have tea with Eva Green at Sketch, she has already taken command of a plush velvet sofa. One hopes to retain a certain cool when meeting an actress, particularly a French one, particularly one so devastating, and yet, I can’t help noticing, the only chair I can politely take is no higher than a badger. ‘It’s like Alice in Wonderland,’ she laughs, clearly happy to play the spectral queen as I perch at her feet. Or perhaps it’s simply the spell Eva Green casts?

Dressed all in black, dyed hair falling over her grey eyes in black strands (she’s a natural blonde), she appears to recede into the shadows. However, what at first seems like Gothic hauteur turns out to be something a little more delicate. She speaks in a soft staccato, with the barest breath of French accent. Occasionally, her voice fades out altogether, as if she is discreetly turning down the volume, but she is also quick to laugh. ‘A friend was telling me recently that people are scared of me,’ she says. ‘That’s the image I give, I guess. When they know me, they see it’s kind of a shyness thing. I don’t know why they’re scared. Is it my hair? The fact I don’t talk much?’ Read the rest of this entry »

Flaunt (2012) Photoshoot

Posted by Mariana in Jun 17,2012 with No Comments

Eva Green is intense in her feature for the Denim issue of Flaunt magazine, on stands now.

Here’s what the 31-year-old Dark Shadows actress had to share:

On 300: Battle of Artemisia: “Soon I’m training to become G.I. Jane or Xena or something like that…I’m a warrior—she’s like a man, ruthless and driven by revenge—which I’ve actually done a lot of. But this will be a challenge…Four people, just for me, are coming to Paris to train me. It will be very fancy—hand-to-hand fighting and double swords.”

On image and self-perception: Many actors are not confident, or they hide it. My acting coach actually was saying, ‘People think you’re so cool, so strong,’ and I was like, ‘Oh my god, do they?’ It’s funny the image that we give.”

Thanks to spot, Isabell, miguel, eden Liao, Imperfection and keviners for the heads-up.

’300′ Actor Rodrigo Santoro Reveals Sequel Details

Posted by Mariana in May 07,2012 with No Comments

300 star Rodrigo Santoro has clarified details about Battle of Artemisia, the much-anticipated follow-up to the original Spartan vs. Persian battle movie 300, which shot actor Gerard Butler to fame in 2006.

Rodrigo, who will be once more playing the role of Persian King Xerxes, confirmed that the movie is due to be shot this summer, and depict ancient historical events that took place alongside the storyline of its predecessor.

The actor told Collider: “I think they’re calling it a spin-off because it’s not exactly a prequel, it’s not a sequel. It takes place in the same time, you start a little earlier but then you see that it’s like a different point of view, a different camera, a different angle.

“While that battle was happening, the one that you saw in 300, there was another battle happening next to it and you will have a chance to see all of that happening and how they interact. I don’t want to ruin it.”

Rodrigo went on to reveal that this film will focus much more on his character’s childhood and how he became the Persian King: “I think they will try to do a little backstory on Xerxes and they will explain how he became ‘the God King’, which I’m excited about.”

He added: “I don’t know what it’s going to be. I’ve never played a character twice. It’s interesting. I think the challenging thing for me now will be to try to bring something new for the fans, for the audience and for myself just to make it interesting to play it again.”

The film is to be directed by Noam Murro, and it has already been revealed that Casino Royale actress Eva Green and Sullivan Stapleton will be starring alongside Rodrigo in the Frank Miller graphic novel adaptation. Read the rest of this entry »

Eva Green finds Johnny Depp’s long fingers ‘extremely sexy’ ‎

Posted by Mariana in May 05,2012 with 2 Comments

LOS ANGELES – “I think Johnny Depp is extremely sexy, especially with his long fingers (which) can do many things,” said Eva Green – eyes afire with mirth and naughtiness – about her “Dark Shadows” co-star in a recent interview.

Goaded to elaborate on “many things,” the actress purred, and said in French-accented English said: “Sshhh … I won’t tell you.” Eva, who plays a witch in “Dark Shadows,” arrived dressed in character.

“Oohhh,” said Eva when asked about her sex scene with Johnny. Eva and Johnny – who plays a vampire named Barnabas – fly around the room making passionate love – and wreck the place!

Eva laughed and said: “What’s great is that it’s not like the usual sex scene where you go, ‘Oh my God …’ You don’t sleep the night before and you have 20 people in the room. You feel extremely self-conscious and it’s never sexy. This one was just fun. For me, it was like Ken and Barbie having sex—puppet lovemaking. It was very funny. It was hard to keep a straight face.” Read the rest of this entry »
