It is officially July and we have decided to hold a contest for our Twitter and Tumblr followers in celebration of Eva and Joy’s birthday this coming Sunday. The contests are only for our Twitter and Tumblr followers, so you must be following EGW on one or the other in order to participate. We will post our yearly birthday message here for her and Joy as well, and all fans are invited to participate, but there will not be a site contest.
Be sure to follow @EvaGreenWeb on Twitter and help us reach 10k (we’re not opposed to more) by July 6th. More details on the contest (and prizes) will be posted there.
We ask everyone to tweet your favorite Eva Green picture, video or quote along with the hashtag #HappyBDayEvaGreen and tag @EvaGreenWeb starting on Sunday, July 6, 12AM Paris Time (Saturday July 5 6PM ET).
EGW will be giving away an authentic Penny Dreadful Vanessa Ives poster to one lucky fan participant. Additionally, we will give away an extra Penny Dreadful poster if we breach the 10K follower mark by July 6 and an extra poster for every thousand added follower. The winner(s) must be an @EvaGreenWeb follower and will be randomly chosen by an uninvolved third party. Once the winner(s) are chosen, we will DM them for their full details (name, address, etc.) and follow up with an announcement on our website, Twitter and Tumblr pages. If for some reason a winner decides they do not want their prize after all, they will have three (3) days to contact us that they would like to forfeit and then we will choose another winner to take their place. Have fun with your tweets in celebrating the talented Ms. Green’s birthday!
Be sure to follow EvaGreenWeb on Tumblr and help us gain more followers. More details on the contest (and prizes) will be posted there.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in making an Eva Green graphic/edit/gifset/whatever suits your fancy and tagging each edit with ‘Eva Green Birthday Contest’. We will choose our top 3 contestants and once they are chosen, we will create a poll and allow the public to pick their favorite of the three. We will have a three (3) day voting period, after which we will announce the winner. The winner will get an authentic Penny Dreadful Vanessa Ives poster. All qualified submissions can start submitting NOW. Submission will close on July 6 11PM PDT.
Please note that though @SHO_Penny provided the prizes, they are NOT a sponsor for this event and are NOT involved in picking the winner(s).

Welcome to the latest of Eva Green Web! This beautiful and sassy new look was created by the incredibly talented Ray and we hope you will all enjoy it as much as we do. As much as we loved the last design, it had been online for a year and we thought it was time to freshen things up a bit with another one of our favorite photoshoots of Eva. Please let us know if you spot any errors so we can fix them ASAP.
We are finalizing the details of this weekend’s upcoming contest and will be posting them here for you soon. As mentioned in our first contest post, our second contest will also be Twitter-only. Please keep in mind that we will have future giveaways that everyone (site visitors, tumblr, Facebook and Twitter users) can enter and have chances to win.
We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to promote RORY KINNEAR FAN, a fansite dedicated to British actor Rory Kinnear. He made his first appearance in episode 2 of Penny Dreadful, playing The Creature, and has recently won a Laurence Olivier Award for his on-stage work.
Dear Friends and Fellow Fans,
We would like to take a bit of your time to talk to you about a few things but first, we’d like to express our deepest gratitude for the support that you’ve been showering our way. You are clearly the greatest fans!
A lot of you have been sending us various Eva Green related articles, clips, pictures, scans, etc. and you may have noticed that some of them have not been uploaded to EvaGreenWeb.com. This is in part of the sudden influx of materials that are being sent everyday to us. Between the successful release of 300: Rise of an Empire and the much anticipated upcoming premiere of Penny Dreadful, Eva’s prominence has skyrocketed and consequently EGW’s, being the oldest and largest resource for Ms. Green and her career. We greatly appreciate all the contributions that all of you have been sending and we would like to let you know that we do receive them and we will be adding them, with proper credit, to the website as time goes by. Sifting through all of them and uploading them takes time. Everything must be double checked, keeping in mind everything that goes along with such materials: finding the best pieces, fact checking, crediting and following Copyright Laws. If there has been a delay in updating, we apologize for it and be assured that we are doing our best in keeping you updated as fast as we can.
EGW is a non-profit fansite and we, the people who runs it, all have lives outside of EGW. We love working on the website and providing fellow fans the opportunity to follow Ms. Green’s career as close and extensively as it can be. It is both a hobby and a passion. We don’t see it as a job and we would like to keep it this way.
2014 is set to be a great year for Ms. Green. Four films and a television show all in one year is an unprecedented achievement. We’ve never had this busy of a year. With her further prominence, we too must evolve and this is why we have decided to engage more in social media. Our Twitter account has been more active and we are happy to see that interacting with you more has been a success. This recent development in our diversity has not been met with open arms by some of you. There have been doubts if it is the website’s official Twitter account which we find inane. M has done a post about this and there is a link on the sidebar of the website. Our Twitter account is for Eva Green fans who use the Twitter social media platform and would like to directly interact with us. No one is forced to follow us on Twitter. There may be things that are being talked about, posted, retweeted or cleared up there and that is because Twitter is an immediate social media tool. As for the people who still thinks that it’s Ms. Green using the EGW Twitter account, we have nothing to say. We have repeatedly reminded everyone that she is NOT in any social media platform and we would like to reiterate it again: Eva Green DOES NOT have a personal Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, or other social media account. She has stated this in one of our exclusive interviews with her. It is posted on EGW. If the day comes that she has decided to join any social media platform, we would let you know. We have never claimed that we speak for her. We are approved and recognized by Ms. Green herself and her management but we are not her official website.
As for those asking why there are photoshoots or videos missing in our galleries, it is because there are legal and copyright laws behind them which are beyond our control. We respect the law and we make it a point to follow them. There have also been inquiries on why we never post rumors, paparazzi pictures and personal pictures and information on Ms. Green. We have always shied away from such materials as we greatly respect Ms. Green and her family and friends’ privacies. We are not the place to look for with these kinds of materials. We may debunk rumors and release certain information from time to time but this is all because Eva herself, her management and us, deem it necessary.
A lot of you has been suggesting and inquiring about a birthday project for her. We would like to state that we are not doing one. In the ten years of existence of EGW, we have made it a point to post a birthday message on the website on the day itself and we strongly suggest that you post your birthday messages to her (and her twin sister Joy) on that post. Eva checks the website and she would see your messages.
Lastly, we would like to thank you all for all your sweet messages of gratitude and support to us, whether be it via the comments section on the website, via email or through tweets. We read them all and we greatly appreciate them! It is real and respectful fans like you that we find joy and inspiration in continuing to work on the website. We encourage you to continue to contribute. After all, this is a group effort and you are all part of our growing EGW Family. We have done surprises and contests before wherein fans have won signed pictures and DVDs. We plan to do these kinds of contests again for fun and to show our gratitude to you all for your continued support so keep checking the website. Post a message on the comments section and interact with other Eva Green fans or send us a tweet. We’d love to hear from you!
EGW (M, Stef and G)
Then follow Eva Green Web at https://twitter.com/EvaGreenWeb! 😀
Thanks to Joy, Eva’s twin sister, (and Eva herself, of course) we can announce you that Ms Green thinks that “we rock!” and that she “finds the website fabulous”. We’ll soon have a surprise for our fans. 😉
Eva Green is featured in the March 2014 issue of Interview Russia. Leonardo DiCaprio is on the cover and there’s also a featured on Jared Leto. If anyone can help us with scans, we’d truly appreciate it.
“Nudity is just another costume. Perverts might think otherwise.” – Eva Green
Let us rephrase it… “Banana is just another fruit. Perverts might think otherwise.” – Eva Green Web Staff
If that’s not enough, let us quote Freud: “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.” And the same goes for a banana.
Eva’s just having a snack. These photos were taken on-set. We don’t post paparazzi pics of her walking down the street. She clearly knew that she was surrounded by dozens of people and that she ran the risk of being photographed. We’re more interested in the period costumes and the locations. Plus, at least she’s eating and not starving herself. Would you feel the same way if that was a sandwich instead of a banana?
PS: These photos have hit the web long before we posted them. We got them thanks to Sebastian who, we’re sure of it, meant no harm, only saw them for what they are, and would never think of disrespecting Miss Green. He’s a regular contributor.
Yes, yes, yes!!! It’s true!!! Miss Green kindly granted us a second exclusive Q&A and answered all of our questions!!! We thank her for her kindness and for taking some time to answer us. I’d also like to thank Joy and George, without whom it wouldn’t have been possible. 😀 Keep checking back for the second part of the Q&A!!! 😉
Q&A session for Eva Green – 09.05.2013
1. In our previous Q &A session you said that “…you are not good at relaxing”. This past year you’ve had a suitcase in hand, filming all around the world (four projects after Dark Shadows). Aren’t you tired? Are you feeling fulfilled after working on each of these projects?
Actually I’m a workaholic so work never tires me as long as the role is « meaty » and something I can really sink my teeth into. I’ve been very lucky with the last four projects. You know because of the financial crisis, there aren’t that many films being done, so I do feel blessed, and yes, fulfilled.
2. What is the percentage of roles that you finally reject among those that are proposed to you? Have you regretted any role rejections or any role acceptances?
I receive many scripts each year, often projects that are being done at the same time as a film that I’m already committed to, and so must refuse it. Or scripts that are poorly written, or the character is a cliché which I really couldn’t give my heart and soul to and consequently refuse as I don’t want to work for the sake of working. Then you have the case of an absolutely exquisite script that for some strange reason never gets produced for lack of funds…. Very frustrating !
3. You are an actress whose work speaks for herself without much PR, magazine covers etc. However, you have a loyal audience in Evagreenweb.com (and not only) that continuously grows. Are you curious to read the comments of the fans in our site from time to time? In general, do you receive many fan mails?
Yes, I do receive fan mail, but I must admit that your website seems to be the most authoritive and (kind, thank you) on my professional life and even my agents use it to get the latest photos, interviews, etc… !
4. How often do you visit France and your family the last years? Paris or Normandy?
My home is in London and I visit my family in Paris or Normandy a couple times a year.
5. Which scenes proved to be the most difficult for you among your last projects?
I would have to say « Sin City » because of the lack of time for prep, but it was a great challenge and I didn’t get fired … Frank and Robert and the crew were the most supportive and lovely people to work with.
6. What attracted you in “White bird in a blizzard” and “The salvation”?
« White Bird in a Blizzard » was a beautifully written script, the character touched me deeply and I was drawn to the complexity of « Eve ». She really was a lovely fragile bird trapped in a cage for me…It was a big challenge to play a mother who ages from mid twenties to mid forties.
« The Salvation » is a Western and that was always one of my fantasies… The character « Madelaine » was kidnapped by the Indians and had her tongue cut out… So no dialogue for me, but a huge challenge, as I needed to convey everything without speech !
7. How did you prepare for the role of Artemisia? Were you familiar with this period of history before the role? (btw Xerxes said for Artemisia during the sea-battle of Salamis that “My men fight like women and my women fight like men” which I guess is not in the script). The premiere is postponed for next March. Are you a bit impatient about the final output?
I’ve never done an action film before and I’ve always dreamed of sword fighting and kicking ass… just being able to vent all that rage is amazing. So this was a great opportunity, plus Artemesia is a fabulous character… It’s very hard today to find strong roles for women and Artemesia is the strongest, toughest, bravest character I’ve ever played.
As for the preparation, I trained four hours a day with a group of stunt men from L.A. for three months before we began shooting. And then I continued training and sword fighting while we were shooting, luckily just on weekends. I’m not the most coordinated person so it was like learning dance steps while swinging two huge swords….It was extremely liberating and empowering !
8. Had you read the comic novel “A dame to kill for” before saying yes to Ava Lord’s role? Ava is the archetype femme fatale and the role seems tailor made for you (although you may don’t like to hear it :-). Did you have any reservations regarding the “light clothing” as presented in Frank Miller’s novel or you consider it as “just another costume”?
Ah, the nudity… Well, for the character her body is a weapon, a tool she uses to lure men to her, therefore it isn’t gratutious. Also I trusted Robert Rodriguez’s eye for the way he filmed all the scenes and knew that they would be done tastefully, artfully, and he would put me to my best advantage…
Welcome to the new version of Eva Green Web! This beautiful new look was created by the lovely Tathy and we hope you will all like it as much as we do. As much as we loved the last design, it had been online for a year and we thought it was time to spruce things up a bit with another one of our favorite photoshoots of Eva. Please let us know if you spot any errors so we can fix them ASAP.
