LOS ANGELES – “I think Johnny Depp is extremely sexy, especially with his long fingers (which) can do many things,” said Eva Green – eyes afire with mirth and naughtiness – about her “Dark Shadows” co-star in a recent interview.

Goaded to elaborate on “many things,” the actress purred, and said in French-accented English said: “Sshhh … I won’t tell you.” Eva, who plays a witch in “Dark Shadows,” arrived dressed in character.

“Oohhh,” said Eva when asked about her sex scene with Johnny. Eva and Johnny – who plays a vampire named Barnabas – fly around the room making passionate love – and wreck the place!

Eva laughed and said: “What’s great is that it’s not like the usual sex scene where you go, ‘Oh my God …’ You don’t sleep the night before and you have 20 people in the room. You feel extremely self-conscious and it’s never sexy. This one was just fun. For me, it was like Ken and Barbie having sex—puppet lovemaking. It was very funny. It was hard to keep a straight face.”

The Dark Shadows movie is the cover story of the latest issue of magazine Entertainment Weekly. Featuring interviews with director Tim Burton and Johnny Depp (Barnabas Collins), along with other members of the cast and crew, it details the project’s development and confirms the film’s final budget at $125 million, considerably higher than the $60 million figure Variety reported at the end of last year.

“Barnabas extols the virtues of family and rejects people who are insincere and selfish,” explains Johnny Depp. “We wanted to pit this selfless family-first hero against the ‘Me’ decade.” Depp also speaks about filming scene with original Barnabas actor Jonathan Frid: “He was incredibly sweet about my taking on this character… Putting his eyeballs on me for the first time, all decked out as a slightly different version of him… it had to be pretty weird for him.” The issue is available on newsstands now and can also be downloaded in iPad format.

In other movie news, it’s been confirmed that the official tie-in book for the movie, Dark Shadows: The Art of the Film, will now be available in the United States. The large-format hardback book was originally announced for publication in the United Kingdom last November, promising production artwork, interviews and unseen photography. US readers can now pre-order the book by clicking here.

I received an email from Ms. Elisa Favreau from StudioCanal on March 20th and this might be really interesting to many of you.

Are you an aspiring writer? This might be your chance! StudioCanal is looking for a brand new novel written by an unknown, unpublished writer. If you wrote an original, unique, interesting, captivating, well-written novel that’s not available on the interwebs or in print, keep reading. Plagiarism won’t be accepted! They want to adapt and eventually co-produce the best novel in partnerships with small independent production companies from the UK and Italy. Nobody is looking for the new Twilight!

If you think you have a chance, please submit your full name, place of birth, city of residence, resume, synopsis of your novel (they’ll probably receive many submissions that they’ll need to read a synopsis before reading the entire novel), your major inspirations behind the novel, favourite books and authors, what made you want to be a writer, and, finally, a pdf file containing your novel. By submitting your novel, you give you on rights to it, meaning that they’ll belong to the database of StudioCanal now. You may be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement. Between roles in Casino Royale and Kingdom of Heaven, Eva Green has played some pretty tough women. While her upcoming role as Angelique Bouchard in Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows flexes a few different muscles, she’ll return to the realm of ass-kicking ladies in Noam Murro’s follow-up to 300, which may or may not be subtitled Battle of Artemisia.

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Green dropped a few hints about her character Artemisia, noting that the character is based on an person from history. “She’s a commander of the Persian armada,” she said. “So she fights – she’s like a man.” The actress went on to say, “She’s another very, very strong woman that has some balls, that’s for sure.”

Directed by Murro from a script by 300 collaborators Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad, the follow-up initially was touted as a prequel based on Frank Miller’s forthcoming Dark Horse miniseries Xerxes, which takes place 10 years before Thermopylae. However, there are now indications that the film is neither a prequel nor a sequel, and could instead chronicle the Battle of Artemisium, a series of naval engagements that took place simultaneously with the more famous Battle of Thermopylae depicted in 300. The film is set for an Aug. 2, 2013, release.
