This weekend in London, the IESB attended the press day for The Golden Compass starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig.
IESB’s Andy Duke was on scene to talk with Eva Green who portrays Serefina Pekkala, the witch queen.
During the roundtable interview, Green talked about playing the character, coming back for a sequel, being a Bond girl and a bit about a movie she just finished entitled “Franklyn”.
Here’s what she had to say,
IESB: The end of ‘The Golden Compass’ is a cliff-hanger that cries out for a sequel. Have you signed up to do more films within the franchise?
EG: Yes. And the part is more important in the sequel. I don’t know if you’ve read the books but you go into her world.
IESB: And when will you start shooting the sequel.
EG: If this movie works, we’ll be shooting with the year – September 2008
IESB: Were you disappointed that every character in film gets a demon whereas yours wasn’t on screen.
EG: He is very far from her isn’t he (laughs). Yes (pauses), he’s away. Unlike all the other demons.
IESB: Was he off visiting relatives?
Surprise!!! We have a brand new layout, to celebrate the release of the “Golden Compass”. It’s very ethereal, a bit witchy and it also has everything to do with Eva (I didn’t want to have a Serafina layout, I wanted to have an Eva Green one.). I hope that you’ll like it. The header is a creation by my friend Janine and the coding is, as usual, by my friend Annie. Thank you girls!
Although he is in a relationship with French actor and Bond girl Eva Green, whom he met on the set of Kingdom Of Heaven, he manages to dodge the paparazzi’s radar.
You’ll never see him out to dinner with Posh and Becks. In fact, Csokas refuses to acknowledge his relationship with Green at all, apart from an oblique reference to spending “a lot of time in Paris”.
“Otherwise it [the relationship] starts landing in a lot of other places,” he says, referring to the pages of celebrity magazines. “It’s nice to avoid all that.”
Csokas is looking forward to a day where he can put down roots and start a family.
“I’m drifting, but that will change. Relationships can be difficult when you are transient. At some point I will probably put a flag down.” But where? There’s his birth country of New Zealand; then there is Sydney, which he “loves”; London where he has a home, and Los Angeles where he often works. And then there’s Paris.
“We’ll see,” he says with an enigmatic half-smile, careful not to give too much away.

Thanks to our very own EvaAnne, we have scans from Marie-Claire! Thank you so much for this treat! 🙂
# Eva doesn’t like seeing herself on the big screen. According to her, the problem is her voice. She has the impression that she’s acting, and that everyone can see it. She only sees her films once or twice, because she gets sick. In fact, she doesn’t know why it makes her so uncomfortable. Maybe because she thinks she’s not good enough.
# The roles that she refuses are the ones that are a bit cliché. But, she says that we never know that will happen on screen! It’s very difficult to read a script. If the script is so so but the director is great, she signs immediately. But, she says that she doesn’t receive that many offers, or maybe it’s her agent who filters them first and she ignores it…
Thanks to my friend Riikka for sending in a preview of Eva on the cover of French Marie Claire. I’ll probably be adding scans very soon. By the way, I still don’t have the UK issue of GQ with Daniel Craig on the cover. If you have it, please scan Eva’s feature and send it in!
The London Premiere of “The Golden Compass” will take place on November 27th!

Sulty Bond actress Eva Green is as well known for her eccentric hair as for her sizzling screen prowess.
But while unkind observers have commented that the new face of Christian Dior looks as though she has been dragged through a bush, it seems that many hours go into creating her unique style.
“I know some people think it’s crazy, but I love this look – it’s different and a bit alternative,” Eva, told me at the launch of the £140,000 Montblanc limitededition Prince Rainier III pen.
“I have dreadlocks at the moment to make it look like ‘just got out of bed’ hair.”
The look is created by a Japanese hairdresser based in East London.
“He comes to all my big engagements,” revealed Eva.

AT FIRST, EVA GREEN WAS quite intimidated by Philip Pullman. “Well, wouldn’t you be?” she asks with an English accent that barely has a trace of her Parisian roots. “The man is a genius and when you meet him he’s like an academic, a don or something…”
Green, best known for playing Vesper Lynd in the last James Bond movie Casino Royale, joined a stellar cast — including 007 himself, Daniel Craig, as Lord Asriel and Nicole Kidman as Mrs Coulter — in the director Chris Weitz’s big-screen version of Pullman’s book The Golden Compass (published as Northern Lights in Britain).
Pullman, a frequent visitor to Shepperton Studios, was apparently happy to stand on the sidelines and watch proceedings. “The first time I met him he knocked on my dressing-room door,” recalls the 27-year-old Green, who plays the 400-year-old witch Serafina Pekkala. “I opened it and he was standing there and said [adopts deep voice]: ‘Let’s talk about Serafina…’ I thought: ‘Oh my God, does he think I’m going to be all right?’
“But he was lovely. He’s very articulate and very enigmatic but he’s a sweet man and I hope he won’t be disappointed. He was like a child and kept saying ‘Oh I love that scene…’ It must be amazing when you are the author and you see your words come alive in front of your eyes.”
Thanks to Irène and Olga we have brand new scans from Sim, a Russian magazine. 🙂
On a night of high-octane glamour Monaco’s Prince Albert welcomed stunning French actress Eva Green as she arrived at an exclusive VIP gala.
Showing off her unique Parisian style, the Kingdom Of Heaven beauty stepped out in a sparkling black gown, with her dark hair elegantly upswept.
The principality’s reputation for attracting some of the world’s most glamorous figures was reinforced by a host of other stars as well. Danish supermodel Helen Christensen stepped out in an icy blue asymmetrical number, while Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins, who performed in front of the star-studded audience, wore a strapless floor-length gown. British supermodel Sophie Dahl also attended the event.
Wednesday’s gala in the Mediterranean principality was the launch bash for a limited-edition pen dedicated to the late Prince Rainier – Albert’s father. Fashioned from white gold, diamonds and rubies, the fountain pen is being sold to benefit a children and arts foundation set up by Albert’s mother Princess Grace.

After avoiding public events for like 4 months, our dear Ms Green attended the Montblanc VIP Charity Gala this Wednesday, November 14th, in Montecarlo, Monaco. The occasion was the world premiere of the “Montblanc Prince Rainier III Limited Edition 81”.
EDIT: People on the photos with Eva: Prince Albert (for those of you who don’t know, he reigns over Monaco), Montblanc international CEO Lutz Bethge (on the left in the pics with Prince Albert and Eva), Katherine Jenkins (the blonde landy in black – she’s a soprano singer), Gerd Bostel (the bearded gentleman with the glasses – he’s Montblanc’s Marketing Director), Lang Lang (the Chinese guy – he’s a virtuoso pianist).
EDIT2: 47 new photos from last night’s event were added to the gallery. Enjoy!
MAG ALERT: By the way, Eva is featured in the new issue of GQ UK with Daniel Craig on the cover. I still don’t have a copy of it, so contributions would be very much appreciated!
I’m happy to announce that EvaGreenWeb.com was chosen the Site of the Month for November 2007 at LivTylerFan.net! Thank you! 🙂
