And, now, the final part of Eva’s Numéro interview.

“Why do you perform mostly in English?
Jeremy Thomas, the producer of The Dreamers, incentivated me to try the casting of the Ridley Scott film, Kingdom of Heaven. Everything went with the flow of things. Then, people say that I don’t want to film in France, but it’s not true. But I’ve happened to make only five films, and only one French, Arsène Lupin.

It’s a surprising trajectory for a young Parisian woman.
The English language is quite practical because I keep a distance from myself, so performing is easier. There’s almost a robotic side that I like. That said, I’m not an inveterate fan of the United States. I have an American agent, but I don’t like Los Angeles very much, except for Venice Beach, where my boyfriend lives. There’s something tense about this city, a way of walking around without really meeting others that stresses me. In general, I only spend two weeks there to go to castings, meet studio bosses… I’m not one to make conversation. I had a bourgeois education, I’m polite, but the blah blah blah…

Continuing with the Numéro translation… Still more to come…

“Bernardo Bertolucci initiated you in the cinema.
When we first met, he asked me to talk about sexuality and politics, the themes of his film. He was very intimidating, but he put me at ease at the same time. In fact, he manipulates people, but without really manipulating them, it’s almost scary! He has undoubtely changed since The Last Tango in Paris. I was waiting for an authoritary personality, and I discovered a man who’s very free spirited.

I started translating some of the interview highlights. There’s more to come…

“Numéro: Can one be a movie star these days without a contract with a big luxury brand? An actress must also be a fashion icon?
EG: If La Redoute had offered me a collaboration, maybe I’d have said no. But we don’t say no to Dior and Galliano: what John does is sophisticated and cinematographical. It has nothing to do with the idea of having your face everywhere.

(…) “The next two (movies) I do are both in the UK. I have a film starting in a month here, with Eva Green, which is a really original piece that goes between present day London and a futuristic European city that’s non-descript.”

EDIT: Apparently, young English actor Sam Riley landed the role of Milo. So, Phillippe will play Preest.

On another note, I’d like to let you know that Mawi decided to close Eva Network after only two weeks. She has a new project coming soon, and even though she still loves Eva, she thought that she couldn’t handle 3 sites, especially because her updates at Eva were mostly about older stuff and it’s enough reason to demotivate most webmasters. I wish her good luck with her upcoming site. In the meantime, we can all visit her Kate Walsh fansite.

Our beautiful Eva is gracing the cover and the pages of this week’s issue of Elle France! The photo used on the cover isn’t new, but the ones inside are!!! She looks gorgeous and sophisticated!!! There’s also a brand new interview that you can read here (it’s in French).

Eva Green, the sweet enchanteress!

Two new additions were made to the trivia page:

– It’s Ridley Scott and his wife, a very good friend of John Galliano, who talked to him about Eva when she was filming Kingdom Of Heaven. When Eva finally met Galliano, she was expecting to see a “bullfighter” but she discovered a “very humble, reserved, sensitive, very English man.”

– The filming of the Midnight Poison TV Spot directed by Wong Kar Wai took place at the Opéra Garnier in Paris for 4 nights (after midnight). “I play some kind of toxic plant, a blue rose, who can be both good and evil, like poison. It’s a very ethereal film, out of this world, with slow movements.”

EDIT: We now have scans thanks to Kazou! Merci! 😀

Our beautiful Eva ranked at #68 at Indie Critics’ 100 Most Beautiful Faces In The World. I definitely think she should have ranked higher, but as the site itself says, beauty is very subjective.

100 Most Beautiful Faces in the World

▪ This list is only about beautiful faces.
▪ It is not based on the “sexiest”, “hottest” or “best body”.
▪ You may discover some relatively unfamiliar faces.
▪ It is certainly not a popularity contest.
▪ This is not your standard Maxim or FHM list.
▪ There will be a few big name exclusions.
▪ This is the most international list you will see.
▪ The list will be updated every couple of months.
▪ Of course, this is very subjective — you will disagree.
