We recently did a short Q&A with Eva’s Penny Dreadful co-star Fady Elsayed, who plays The Lead Familiar, and wanted to share it with you guys. Enjoy!

EGW: Hey Fady! How are you?

FADY: I’m great, thanks for asking.

EGW: We know you are busy so we’ll get to the point and ask: How was it like to work with Eva?

FADY: Working with Eva was the best experience of my life. I was in awe of her. The way she looked, talk, walked even the way she shook my hand.

I had the privilege of hearing Eva recite her Arabic dialogue to me as I spoke Arabic and she wanted to see if it sounded good.

Her Arabic was amazing!!

EGW: That’s very nice to hear as this is a new trivia about her. Did she happen to mention how she learned to speak in Arabic or was it all just in preparation for Vanessa Ives?

FADY: She prepared everything herself.

EGW: Wow! This sounds just like her because she prepares a lot when it comes to her roles. Could you tell us what she was like on the set? I mean, does she keep to herself or does she joke around with co-stars and crew, etc.?

FADY: She’s very friendly and very sociable with everyone who speaks with her. It felt like she was in always in character.

EGW: Congratulations on the awesome premiere of Penny Dreadful! You did an awesome job and we hope to see more of you!

FADY: Thanks so much! I have a great feeling about the show! Enjoy the rest of it 🙂 xx

What a nice person Fady Elsayed is to do that for your website, not a lot of actors would do that for fanwebsites

Fady is a great and friendly guy to us! He surely will go a long way if he keeps having a good head on his shoulders 🙂

I feel vaguely disloyal, but I do find these mocking Guardian TV reviews very funny. The gushy uncritical reviews from professional TV fans become a bit tiresome. This is in a similar vein to the comic Camelot reviews the Guardian previously featured:

“”I have a need for a gentleman who’s comfortable with firearms and not hesitant to engage in dangerous endeavours,” Vanessa tells sharpshooter Ethan (Josh Hartnett) with enormous unblinking peepers. Her sinister cartoon-cat gaze doesn’t falter as she takes the measure of him. “Your eye is steady but your left hand tremors. That’s the drink,” she surmises creepily, eyeballing him like a haunted oil painting stuck in a staring competition with two dots drawn on the opposite wall. “I see a man who’s been accustomed to wealth but has given himself to excess and the unbridled pleasures of youth.” By now, her eyes are seeping out of the edges of your TV, encroaching on your feature wall. ”
